• Mr. Dimitrios Farmakis MD, MSc is a General Surgeon, Military retired, Deputy Director of the D Surgical Clinic of the Interbalkan Medical Center, and Scientific Associate of Bioclinic Thessaloniki and Euromedica.

   

  Mr. Farmakis comes from Siatista Kozani, where he graduated from the historic Trapantzeio high school with excellent grades. He studied Medicine at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Medical SSAS) from where he graduated in 1995 with a very good grade. He then served for a year in the 401 GSNA where he was trained in the different departments and clinics of the hospital and at the same time studied at the School of Health Care. He was then transferred to the 215th Medical Battalion of Kastoria and then to the 4th LYG/Support Battalion of Nea Chalcedona which, in addition to his medical duties, was involved in the training of armed doctors, nurses and paramedics. He specialized in General Surgery for 2 years at 424 GSNE, 2.5 years at the 2nd Surgical Clinic of the Papageorgiou Hospital and 1.5 years at the «Agios Dimitrios» General  Hospital in Thessaloniki, performing a significant number of general surgery, surgical oncology and laparoscopic operations. After a few months’ stay at the 424GSNE, he was transferred to the 406 Military Hospital of Didymoteicho as a Surgical Clinic Director with a disposition also at the General  Hospital of Didymoteicho, offering at the same time his medical services to the residents of the border areas as part of the social medicine program of the Hellenic Army.

   

  Since 2007 he has been supervisor physician of the First Surgical Clinic of the 424 GSNE. He has performed the first laparoscopic operation for the treatment of umbilical hernia at 424 GSNE in 2009. He has been retrained in biliary and pancreatic surgery at the General Hospital of Thessaloniki "Agios Dimitrios" and at the Royal Infirmary Hospital of Manchester and in upper digestive surgery at the General Hospital of  Thes/nikis "Agios Dimitrios".

   

  He has a master's degree in Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery and has been retrained in Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy (HIPEC), Laparoscopic Colon Surgery, Laparoscopic Hernia Treatment and Transoral Thyroidectomy (TOETVA). He also maintains a private practice in Peraia Thessalonica and in the city of Thessaloniki and at the same time participated in the social practice of the Municipality of Thermaikos.

   

  He has participated in Greek and international medical conferences and was involved in the education of the 3rd and 4th year students of the School of Medicine of the AUTH. He participated in the training of specialized surgeons both with their clinical training on patients, in surgical procedures and in the clinical courses with the presentation of surgical diseases. Since 2016, he has been lecturing in the courses of the InterBalkan Medical School of Thessaloniki.
