Short Bio
I was born in 1966, in Chania of Crete by two wonderful parents. My father was an educator. I had always been an honor student during the years of Middle and High school (2nd Middle school & 3rd Hight school of Chania). Always in the top ten of the best, I was accepted and concluded my studies at the University of Crete, School of Medicine (1985-1991).
In 1994, after concluding my rural practice and my military service, I started my residency in general surgery at the General State Hospital of Athens "G. Gennimatas". At the same time, I was working as an assistant to a well-known Plastic Surgeon, participating in hundreds of surgery procedures at the Medical Center of Athens. On July 1, 1996, immediately after the completion of the required years in General Surgery, I was chosen to be trained under salary in the Plastic Surgery specialty at the respective department of the Hadassah University Hospital in Jerusalem. I was the fist non-Israeli Full-Time Resident with the same educational and surgery program as my Israeli colleagues. From 01/10/1997 to the end of my residency, I was also a scholarship holder by the State Scholarships Foundation (IKY) as well as the Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2nd scholarship). For 18 months, since April 1998, I was trained in the treatment of congenital or acquired craniofacial anomalies. For 1 year, since 1999, I was trained in microsurgery and hand surgery. For the two above mentioned specialties, I was awarded the title of Fellow in Craniofacial Reconstructive Surgery and Fellow in Hand Surgery and Microsurgery. From July, 1998 to February, 2000, I organized a Plastic Surgery Clinic with the assent of the Hospital in which I had been doing my residency and my professor Μ.Wexler inside the Palestinian territories, and as a senior surgeon, performed dozens of restorative surgery procedures to adults and children. In January 2000, I was honored for this charitable work with the Grant Cross with a Crown and was raised to Crusader of the Order of the Orthodox Crusaders of the Holy Sepulcher, by the then Patriarch of Jerusalem Diodorus. In October 2000, after examinations which I successfully passed with distinction, I gained the title of Plastic Surgeon and became a member of the Hellenic Society of Plastic Surgeons. From 2001 to the present day, I have attended as a speaker, trainer, or trainee several dozen International Conferences and educational seminars all around the world. From February 2001, I have been practicing my specialty in Crete, and have practices in Heraklion and Chania.
Since 2006, I am the official expert for the Public Prosecutor's Office in Heraklion. Since 2012, I am an authorized Plastic Surgeon in SE Mediterranean by Tricare Organization, the official health service provider for NATO personnel and USA citizens in Greece with a direct service contract. Since 2015, I am a Member of International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS). Since 2016, I am an International Member of American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASAPS).
I have performed more than 4,500 surgical operations, 12,000 microsurgeries, 20,000 injectable and non-injectable therapies in hospitals of Crete, with almost zero complications and a repeat surgery rate less than 2%. I also maintain a full department of aesthetic medicine, resourced with extremely competent personnel and technological equipment that is constantly updated.
