• Dr. Iordanis Chatziangelidis is an experienced Ophthalmologist with a demonstrated history of working in the medical practice industry.   Eye see today, is a project regarding teleophthalomology, providing complete ophthalmological services in rural areas and islands. We are all aware of the impact the financial crisis had on health care systems and on the quality and cost of life of the patients in general. Especially for Greece, a distinct geographically country of the European Union with 227 inhabited islands, where primary health care centers do not provide ophthalmological services.

  Sometimes, the patient cannot go to the ophthalmologist for many reasons. So the ophthalmologist has to go to the patient's home.

   

  But the ophthalmological examination, due to the nature of the eye, requires technology and expertise. Especially for this group of patients who, apart from mobility problems, usually have other pathological conditions, a complete ophthalmological examination at home cannot be carried out without complete equipment, with the risk of incomplete diagnosis.

   

  Having the know-how from the telemedicine system, in which portability is an important part, Dr. Chantziangelidis has set up a complete portable ophthalmology clinic. His work was recognized by his colleagues, and there was a front page article about it in the American specialty journal Ocular Surgery News, in October 2018.

   

  Dr. Chantziangelidis is therefore able, by appointment, to travel to the patient's site and offer his services as:

   

  - Visual acuity control, using special software for iPad with CE certification, as an optotype.
  - Measurement of the patient's spectacles using a handheld lens meter.
  - Refraction of the patient, using a portable refractometer, possibility of prescribing glasses and checking for strabismus, anisometropia, and amblyopia in children.
  - Contrast sensitivity check using certified software, for early screening of cataract and other diseases.
  - Color perception testing using special software, certified by CE with different programs for children and adults
  - Amsler network testing, for the registration and monitoring of patients with retinal diseases, using specific software.
  - Checking the patient's visual fields, using specific software.
  - Complete examination using a portable slit lamp, the main tool of ophthalmologists.
  - Funduscopy, using an indirect ophthalmoscope and scleral pressure for a complete retinal examination, staging of diabetic retinopathy, checking for age-related macular degeneration, checking for myopia and photopsies and possible cracks in the retina and other diseases.
  - Recording-documentation of retinal diseases using a portable fundus camera.
  - Tonometry, i.e. measurement of intraocular pressure, with the Tonopen+ Avia precision electronic tonometer.
  - Corneal pachymetry, important as far as the biomechanical properties of the eye and glaucoma are concerned, but also the measurement of intraocular pressure.
