  • Dr. Georgios Kontopoulos is a gynecologist and fertility expert trained in the USA, and a certified member of the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology. He is a founding member of the Institute of Life and offers his services to the Assisted Reproduction Unit, at a clinical and a scientific level

     

    Dr. Kontopoulos was born in New Jersey, USA in 1974.He graduated from the Athens Medical School in 1999.In 2000, he did a preliminary year in Obstetrics & Gynecology at Beth Israel Medical Center in Newark, NJ.In 2001, we worked as a General Surgery resident for a year at the Maimonides Medical Center, State University of New York.


    In 2002, he became an Ob/Gyn resident at the State University of New York, where he mainly worked at the Maimonides Medical Center, the hospital with largest number of deliveries in New York State, as well as Coney Island Hospital and Mount Sinai Hospital. He completed his residency in 2006.During his residency training, he received the award for “Best Teaching Resident of the Year” and was chosen as a representative of the American College of Obstetricians.


    He has also been trained in Robotic Surgery (IRCAD Strasbourg).


    In 2007, he returned to Greece and began working at the IASO Assisted Reproduction Unit. Since 2015, he is a founding member, along with other prominent associates of the fully renovated Institute of Life IVF unit. In 2020, he introduced Institute of Life Infertility Clinic in Kalamata


    He participated in an innovative international clinical study by the IoL on the maternal spindle transfer in women with infertility problems due to poor-quality oocyte cytoplasm.
    He is a regular speaker in conferences & seminars on assisted reproduction, and has written many articles for Greek & international journals.


    He holds a license to practice medicine in Athens and New York.
