Short Bio
Panagiotis Psathas, MD has a PhD from the University of Athens and is a distinguished obstetrician/gynecologic surgeon in Greece, with extensive experience, which he is also a founding member of the IASO Institute of Life Assisted Reproduction Unit medical team.
Dr. Panagiotis Psathas has specialized in Reproductive Endocrinology and Assisted Reintroduction at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
In 2019, he participated in an Institute of Life clinical study in partnership with Embryotools, licensed and supervised by the Greek National Authority of Assisted Reproduction, for the application of the maternal spindle transfer (MST) technique for addressing problems of women facing fertility issues, multiple IVF failures caused by cytoplasmic dysfunctions of their oocytes, and rare mitochondrial genetic diseases. This study led to a first ever birth of a healthy baby globally using the using the maternal spindle transfer method, performed for the first time by the Institute of Life and Embryotools in Greece.
From 2000 to date, Dr. Panagiotis Psathas runs a private maternity and gynecological practice, while from 2015 to date he has been a founding member of the medical team that established and manages the IASO Institute of Life Assisted Reproduction Unit.
He has attended multitude postgraduate seminars in Greece and abroad and has participated in papers and posters in national and international conferences.
