Short Bio

  • Dr. Konstantinos Kostaras is an Obstetrician / Gynecologist, and an Assisted Reproduction and Endoscopic Surgery specialist. He has a PhD from the University of Athens and is a founding member of the IASO Institute of Life Assisted Reproduction Unit. He usually specializes in IVF, gynecology, endoscopic surgery and pregnancy conditions.

     

    He was born in Lamia. He studied at the Medical School of the University of Bologna, Italy, where he obtained his degree in 1985 with 96/110. After sitting for the state exam at the same University, he obtained his license to practice medicine with honors.


    He initially completed his residency in Gynecology at the Metaxa Cancer Hospital and later on his residency in Obstetrics at the Obstetrics / Gynecology Clinic of Helena Venizelou Hospital.


    He received his specialty certification in 1995. He has been trained in treating infertility problems and is using ultrasounds at the respective departments of Helena Venizelou Hospital. He has also been trained in uterine pathology at the renowned Instituto Tumori Milano, Italy, and later in endoscopic / laparoscopic surgery at the MITU & Endoscopy Centre, Royal Free Hospital, London. He has been an associate at IASO since 1996 and is currently an Assisted Reproduction Specialist at the new IASO Institute of Life IVF Unit.


    He is a member of the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE), the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), the International Society for Fertility

    Preservation (ISFP) and the Society of European Robotic Gynaecological Surgery (SERGS). He regularly participates in conferences and workshops on dedicated reproduction topics organized by these societies, as well as other international organizations.


    In 2005, he obtained a PhD from the University of Athens with honors.
